Green Eyed Monsters
Life has been getting in the way, while we're busy making other plans.
I am now on a quest to put down as many rhythm tracks as humanly possibly.
Hope to get an albums worth down soon - famous last words!
I've put down a new mix of Green Eyed Monsters at REDMOONBURNING

New Material and Heartworn Highways
Jon and I have been busy bringing in some new material.
A new song in F# called 'What do you have to say?', and
an instrumental that starts in E called 'The Burning'.
I've been playing it for years with good feedback.
It sounds great with two guitars though.
In addition I sent a live unplugged demo of us to WNCW
which is a truly world class radio station - that just happens to be very near us.
Also, in my continued delve into the world of Townes Van Zandt
- I checked out this fantastic piece of work:
Heartworn Highways
I discovered Guy Clark, Steve Young and a young Steve Earle too.

Turn up your Speakers
myspace.com/redmoonburning
There are both some studio and live things on there that will be rotated in and out. Hope you enjoy!
Funny enough, there is also a link on the Myspace for this very blog, so you can keep linking and linking back and forth until you get dizzy and fall out of your chair. Oh the fun!

New Guitar and New Recording
Got a new Alvarez guitar the other week, which I am very pleased about:
http://www.alvarezgtr.com/prod_page.html?SeriesID=1&ItemID=118
Great tone. Sounds like a 30 year-old Martin Guitar.
More importantly did some 2-Track recording (ala Frank Black).
All done live 'on the spot' via some good old AKG's. We'll be able to use half the material I think.
Both provided by Steve McGowan (for a reasonable fee ;-) Steve has many, many years of recording experience. Cheers Steve.

Good Ol' Fashioned Goodness
Relaxing at home tonight doing some channel surfing. I skim by VH1 Classic (full of some goodies from time to time). Low and behold, what had just started but "The Song Remains the Same". STOP! While I have this on DVD (and why wouldn't I?), I haven't broken it out in quite some time. It doesn't matter that I have seen it probably 20+ times. I can't help but be mesmerized, every single time, by what is going on and the absolute power that is unleashed by these 4 guys. Sounds cheesy, but the only way I know to describe what they do is - magic.....(black?). Hats off to YOU, Led Zeppelin. Thanks for another 2 1/2 hours of utter disbelief.
Now, if I could only get some Theremin worked into some of our stuff.....

Demo Mix Down
Anyhoo, look like we got our final takes for 'Green Eyed Monsters' in last night.
With 'Real Life' having what looks like a final mix; looks like we are getting there - slowly by surely.
Also looks like Steve McGowan will be recording us live in the next couple of weeks.
Looking forward to that.
BTW - NEVER leave your acoustic guitar, within a room, without AC over a summer weekend. Not during a Southern summer anyway.

Townes Van Zandt
Hands up many times on that front.
My latest Black Hole pulling me into other dimensions is/was troubled genius Townes Van Zandt.
What a Man.

First Postings and Bad Monitors
Howdy to the Red Moon Burning Blog.
This is will essentially be the rambling musings some rock star wanna-be's.
We try. We try.
Taking a break from the whole painful recording process; Jon and I played out (in an unplugged style) last night at the Acoustic Seen in
So you are up there playing your heart out – and you can’t hear what you are actually playing or singing.
You feel as you are playing in some parallel Universe. You have to keep on playing and performing.
